The Hasso Plattner Institute for Digital Health at Mount Sinai (HPI·MS) is a collaborative initiative between the Hasso Plattner Institute for Digital Engineering in Potsdam, Germany, Mount Sinai Health System in New York City, USA, and Data4Life (D4L), a nonprofit digital health organization. This partnership aims to develop digital health solutions that empower patients and healthcare providers while improving health outcomes. Together, we are pioneering advancements in digital health, artificial intelligence (AI), and data-driven medicine to transform healthcare delivery and outcomes worldwide.

The Digital Health Partnership is a multi-institution collaboration that brings together scientific expertise in medicine and digital health, as well as technological expertise in data management and health IT infrastructure to transform healthcare through innovation. By advancing research, education, and real-world implementation, the partnership enhances patient outcomes, optimizes patient journeys, strengthens disease prevention, and accelerates clinical translation – shaping a future where technological progress directly enhances health and wellbeing for all.

The Hasso Plattner Institute (HPI) is a renowned German educational and research Institute specializing in digital engineering and innovation. Established in 1998 by SAP co-founder Hasso Plattner, it is part of the University of Potsdam and offers cutting-edge bachelor’s, master’s and PhD programs in IT systems engineering. Known for its hands-on approach and
interdisciplinary focus, HPI emphasizes design thinking, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, and data engineering. It is also a leader in global innovation with its international research collaborations and the HPI school of Design Thinking, fostering creative problem-solving.
The Digital Health Cluster at the Hasso Plattner Institute (HPI) plays a key role in advancing healthcare through technology and innovation. It focusses on developing digital solutions to improve medical care, patient outcomes, and health data management. This research cluster integrates interdisciplinary research in fields like health informatics, data science, and artificial intelligence, fostering collaboration between IT experts, medical professionals, and researchers. Through its cutting-edge work, the Digital Health Cluster strengthens HPI’s reputation as a leader in digital health innovation and contributes to shaping the future of healthcare systems globally. The digital health research cluster continues to enhance its research focus, by converging healthcare with public health and taking a more holistic approach towards digital health. Our cluster is dynamic and interdisciplinary and dedicated to research with a patient-centered and data-driven approach. Our aim is to utilize and continuously develop digital technologies in the fields of medicine, healthcare and public health to improve health and well-being of an individual as well as larger communities.
